This time of year, it is traditional to have Day of the Dead Bread, or pan de muerto, a soft, buttery dough enriched with the orange blossom water and dipped in melted butter and dusted with sugar. The iconic bread is shaped round, to symbolise the circle of life, and then topped with 'huesitos' or bones, shaped from the dough and placed on a cross pattern sealed with another small circle on top representing the skull. This bread is traditionally placed in ofrendas all over Mexico and while there are quite a few variations within regions, this one is the one most widely eaten in Mexico.
