Chipotle Morita chilies are a mixture of ripe jalapeño and serrano peppers from the last picking of the plant, that have been dried and smoked. They are smaller than the Chipotle Meco variety, but they compensate on flavour and spiciness! They are dark red in colour, with a shiny, leathery texture. They are quite hot with a subtle sweet and smokey flavour and they are very meaty. I adore them.
They are delicious in salsas and stews and their smokey heat will complement many traditional Mexican dishes. They are one of the most popular Mexican chilies in Ireland, everybody is going nuts about them, understandably though, as they are delicious!
