At the heart of Day of the Dead celebrations is the altar – a sacred space where memory, love and life intertwine. Adorned with marigolds, candles, food and cherished mementos, it invites us to honour those who have passed while remembering the beauty of their lives. Every workshop in the series would have contributed to elements of the altar, bringing the series full circle.
Picado will host an open day for people to visit our community altar. Traditional Day of the Dead bread and Mexican hot chocolate will be on offer in return for a small donation to the Irish Cancer Society, a cause very closed to both our founders, Lily and Alan.
